Fic/Vid Masterlist

Hello! Look, there is a journal here. It contains much random blather, most of which is not friendslocked. I have no particular friending policy. Lurk, comment, whatever. It's all good. :D

It's possible you're just stopping by for the fanfic and vids. In which case, might I direct you to a masterlist? Also: I give blanket permission to podfic, remix, translate, or otherwise do anything creative based upon any of my works. Just please drop me a note letting me know so that I can point and squee. what you see is what you get )

So then I took a bunch of movies and TV shows and musical artists that I know my girlfriend loves and/or that we watched together and mashed them together into a multifandom joy vid. Like you do. This is a super eclectic mixtape, guys. SUPER ECLECTIC.

For the record, I completed a first draft of this vid right around New Year's. It took me until this past week to actually tackle the second draft. It's still not quite what I wanted it to be -- meta commentary vids are not my strongest suit -- but I did my best.

So, this. I suppose it's yet another vid about Joss Whedon's broken dolls attempting to reclaim their feminist narratives.

Basically, while watching Buffy for the first time ever, I started to notice some...really, really obvious parallels. That everyone else was already well aware of, but hey, I'm new here. And I thought I might want to do a vid about all these "chosen" women, and how deeply fucked up that made them, but how hard they worked to reclaim their own identities and kick ass on their own terms. And I've done a couple of vids to Tom McRae songs, and his music had the right sort of tone for the vid I wanted to do. So I'd just downloaded several of his albums that I'd never previously heard, and I glanced through the song titles, and this one just JUMPED out at me. So I listened to it. And, wow, yes.

and she's dangerous )

Fandoms: Across the Universe, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Casino Royale, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, Donnie Darko, Firefly, A Fish Called Wanda, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Hotel Rwanda, How I Met Your Mother, Inception, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Iron Man, Life, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, The Matrix, Merlin, Monsoon Wedding, Moulin Rouge, Much Ado About Nothing, Pan's Labyrinth, Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl, Pride and Prejudice, Queer as Folk UK, Sarah Jane Adventures, Serenity, Sports Night, Stardust, Star Trek 2009, Torchwood, West Wing, X-Files, X-Men, X2

And for the record, I'm missing like twelve gajillion awesome ladies, but I had to narrow it down somehow. Biased toward the contents of my DVD collection and other sources I was both familiar with and could easily get a hold of.
