HOLY SHIT, HUNGER GAMES IS THE MOST DEPRESSING YA SERIES IN THE HISTORY OF STORIES MAKING ME LOSE THE WILL TO LIVE.
Seriously, if I had read this at age ten, I would have -- well, actually, loved it to bits just as much as I do now, because I was a profoundly fucked up child who liked reading books about teenagers dying tragically of cancer (I am deeply ashamed of some of my past literary choices, although not quite so much so as of my excruciatingly embarrassing fondness for the Sookie Stackhouse books). But anyway. Rocks fall, everyone dies! BUT ONLY IF THEY'RE LUCKY.
Goddamn, that was bleak. And really, really good. AND REALLY, REALLY BLEAK.
They're filming these? Seriously? Do they somehow expect to maintain a PG-13 rating without deviating so drastically from the storyline as to change it entirely, or are we just accepting these as grown-up movies that happen to feature a bunch of teenagers?
