He IS white. I think the tan got exaggerated, as is the way of glamorous photo shoots.
(Heh. There were originally two versions of this icon, one with less of the stomach and more of the pants. My roomie and I spent about ten minutes debating whether I should go with the SKIN! or the LEATHER!)
