I don't want to go to the gym right now, but I really should. Mainly I don't want to go because today is my monthly weigh-in and measurement day with them, and I've had a bad month on the eating-healthy front due to all the stress and show happening and things. My weight's been bouncing around in a two-pound range for the whole month, and am currently on the upper end of that. Which in my actual life, I don't care about, because, um, it's just two pounds, y'know? I'm comfortable with my weight and my body right now, and while I'd like to lose about five more pounds, I don't really care if it takes me a year to get there. But the fitness people at the gym get all OH NOES YOUR BODY FAT % HAS GONE UP A WHOLE POINT!, which kind of makes me grumpy. So I don't want to go.

I started working on my Remix fic at work yesterday. It's...diverging further from the original fic a lot more than I usually do for remixes. But then again, my remixes are usually fairly weak, so maybe this will be a better fic overall? Eh, who knows.

The show's improving with every performance, and we actually got a favorable (albeit rather poorly-written) review in the Chicago Reader. I've also been going out with cast members after practically every show so far, which is, well, kind of odd for me, having a social life. I go to bars! Regularly! This is very strange. But fun, and for the first time since September, I'm not appallingly lonely most of the time, which is a definite plus. Also, have developed an unfortunate crush on one of my actors, the one I hang out with the most and am generally friendliest with and ride the train home with every night. Odd, though, because he's really not my type in many ways, and yet. Eh, it's more fun than bothersome just now, and it helps whenever I tilt toward emo-ness to remind myself that he's a smoker and I don't actually want to hook up with someone who tastes of cigarettes.

Okay, shutting up now. Goodness I'm dull.

goddamnit.

I am an elitist theater snob, especially when it comes to musical theater. I worship at the shrine of Stephen Sondheim and do my best to pretend that shows like "Starlight Express" and "Legally Blonde: the Musical" don't actually exist. I'm not an ABBA fan, and I try to turn a blind eye to the continued presence of "Mamma Mia!" on Broadway. The fact that there is a movie of said "Mamma Mia!" coming out makes me wrinkle my nose in vague distaste. The fact that it will have Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, and Pierce Brosnan in it, unfortunately, made me curious enough to watch the trailer, with the sort of fascination one might have observing a train wreck.

And that's where I screwed up, because people? This movie also has Dominic Cooper in it, a.k.a. The History Boys' Dakin.

Shirtless, wet, tanned Dakin.

I have to see this movie now.

Goddamnit. Only for you, Dakin, will I subject myself to two hours of bubblegum sentiments and ABBA.

All of my favorite lust-object DVDs are back in the States, so I settled for the next best thing. The ending of The Usual Suspects is like an intellectual orgasm. Gah. My love for this film increases exponentially every time I watch it. Well done, me, for picking it as one of the ten DVDs I actually brought to Ireland with me.

And wtf, me, for picking Gallipoli instead of, say, Moulin Rouge! or The Sting or sommat. Well, okay, I know why I chose it; it's one of my favorite movies to introduce to people, because almost no one I know has seen it, and when I first came over, I was all optimistic about making friends and shit. Stupid me. So stupid. I should've just loaded up on the movies I love to watch on my own.

mmm, jake.

I just enjoyed a lovely Jake Gyllenhaal double feature, by which I mean I went to the cinema to see Brokeback Mountain and afterwards, realized that the next screen over was about to show Proof, so I slipped in. Because, really, there can never be enough Jake, and I needed a good dose of happy!Jake after BBM. Proof's decent; not as good as the play, but better than I was expecting. And Jake wears GLASSES for one scene, which was hot beyond the words to express it. Pardon my fetish.

Of course, the film also made me all homesick (schoolsick?), because most of it was shot on my university's campus. The UofC looks damn good on film, let me tell you. And then I remembered, hey, didn't I spend a day being an extra in this movie, back when it was filming two and half years ago? Oh, yeah, I did. And I found myself! My first-year roomie and I are quite visible in a number of shots, if, y'know, a person were to know where to look for us. I preened quietly to myself in the theater when I noticed that. And that just brought back memories of the long, annoying hours of being treated like cattle by the extra coordinators. Somewhat ameliorated by sitting within five feet of Jake for several hours. Dear god he was (is) hot. And back then I barely even knew who he was.

So, yeah, there was a point to this post. Probably that Jake Gyllenhaal is hot. Newsflash, I know.

So, on my way to buy a CD for my dad's bday present, I passed a movie theater. As you do. And saw a poster for Green Street Hooligans, with "NOW SHOWING" acorss the top. And sorta shrugged and continued on to the CD store, because meh, heard enough about this film from you lot, not really interested.

On the way back from buying the CD, passed the theater again. Glanced at poster again. Noted how hot Elijah Wood looked in it. Remembered the overwhelming hotness of dark!Frodo. Entered movie theater on impulse. Noted that next showing of GSH was in twenty minutes.

Bought ticket.

Okay, I went in skeptical. Very skeptical, albeit impulsively drawn to dark!Elijah. My reaction to GSH? Best damn movie I've seen all year. No, seriously. It made me wibble and chortle to myself in the theater. And...FRODO BEATS THE SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE. Liek.

Go see. NOW.

Also, who is Charlie Hunnam and why did nobody tell me that he is actually the sexiest creature on God's good earth? I want to sex him. Like, a lot. And I know I've seen Charlie/Elijah and Pete/Matt slash around somewhere, so kindly direct me to it, now please.

MY CAST IS FUCKING AWESOME. Like. We've only had three rehearsals so far, and we've done an insane amount of productive work on the show already. Blocking is more or less done (although I know it'll change over the next couple of weeks), and my actors are already getting really into their characters and having long discussions and meeting with each other outside of rehearsal to practice and agreeing to get off book early ALL ON THEIR OWN. Three rehearsals! And I NEVER would have predicted this, because while my three actors are each quite talented, they've never worked with each other before and didn't seem to mesh together at callbacks and, in the end, I had to sacrifice chemistry for talent. Well, apparently it wasn't much of a sacrifice, because they're working fantastically together and I want to sex0r all of them omg.

Er.

I need to stop with the male-dominant casts. Or at least the ALL-MALE casts. Because. Well. The urge to sex0r! And they're all STRAIGHT! And two of them have girlfriends, and I have a boyfriend, and I'm not actually sexually attracted to any of them. It's just that they're so AWESOME.

Okay, there are posters for Lost plastered up all over the place, including one at the entrance to one of my usual subway stations. Seeing a large photo of DOM on the wall every day is probably hazardous to my health, or something. I might be so busy drooling over it that I miss my step and fall down a flight of subway stairs.

And it's frustrating to know that I'll probably never actually see an episode of this show, since (as I discovered last year) watching TV whilst in college just doesn't work for me, as I don't have a TV of my own and the one in the rec room has usually already been taken over by someone else and primetime television is always from 7pm to 10pm anyway which is when I have rehearsals every day so I couldn't watch it even if I COULD take over the rec room TV.

Alas.

I finally saw King Arthur. And, you know, I went into that movie wanting to love it, in spite of its very mixed reviews. And I almost did love it. Almost.

cut for spoilers )

So, I didn't quite love this movie. I had my gripes. But I still really liked it, and I don't understand why so many people are bashing it. Meh. Whatever. To each his own, and all that. I'd take this creative reinterpretation of legend over Troy any day.

(And it definitely brings Teh Hotass, at least.)

I spent 14 hours today being an extra in that Proof movie thing.

o_O

That was really, really exhausting, especially given the amount of sitting around and doing nothing we did. But! Was extra! So, when the movie comes out next summer, look for me and my roomie in the father's memorial scene. We're the two girls sitting directly across the aisle from Jake Gyllenhaal.

Did I mention that we were directly across the aisle from Jake Gyllenhaal? Oh. Yeah. We were. Which meant that I basically stared lustfully at him for about three or four hours. Rock the fuck on.

Yes, I know this pales in comparison to those of you lucky, lucky folks who met Sean / Elijah / Dom / etc at C4, but still. Spending an extended amount of time within five feet of Jake Gyllenhaal -- who, might I add, is extremely hot in person -- was pretty damn cool. He bops to his MP3 music in a geeky manner! He gives us adorable "Meh?" expressions when he doesn't know what the director is talking about! He ANGSTS (in character)! Oh, and some Gwyneth somebody was there, too...

This should be the end of my extended series of Jake Gyllenhaal lust!posts, so for those of you who don't know who the hell he is and/or don't care, you won't have to deal with any more of him. Until the movie comes out.

I WAS WITHIN 20 FEET OF ANTHONY HOPKINS AND JAKE GYLLENHAAL AND GWYNETH PALTROW.

I came out of my Lit class and they were filming right there in front of the building.

!!!

Jake Gyllenhaal is really, really hot, yo.

!!!

And no, I didn't do anything tacky like ask for autographs (they were busy, can't bother actors) or squeal aloud or faint or anything. But! JAKE GYLLENHAAL!

EEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I'm doing my Calc 151 homework, and I think I actually kind of enjoy doing mathematical induction proofs. Shoot me now.

Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow and *lust* Jake Gyllenhall *lust* are filming the movie version of Proof on our campus. Saw the play when it was on Broadway, loved it. And, um, this means that Jake Gyllenhall is SOMEWHERE ON MY CAMPUS. *resists urge to stalk*

Saw Bend It Like Beckham last night, finally. Keira pretty, Indian girl also pretty, Indian girl's gay best friend extremely gay pretty as well, script clever and humorous. And I finally understand [livejournal.com profile] lush_rimbaud's obsession with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Because GUH.

Roomie and I definitely came out of movie theater going GUH over Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.

And at the end the gay Indian best friend is so totally lusting over Beckham while everyone else is saying goodbye to the girls and it's bloody hilarious.

Homework? Qu'est-ce que c'est "homework"? Je ne comprends pas...

WE HAVE POSTERS, PRECIOUS!

(The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is you DO NOT talk about Fight Club.)

*ogles Fight Club poster. With all the rules, and the Brad, and the Ed Norton, and Jack's smirking revenge*

*ogles Frodo, as per usual*

Too much pretty. Can't focus on work.

Just watched first six episodes of British TV show "Coupling" with some friends. Other than the whole why-do-I-not-live-in-England-this-is-the-greatest-sitcom-EVER thing, I, um, think I finally understand what everyone sees in Jack Davenport.

So I work in the administrative offices of a theater, right? Except the offices are divided -- half on one side of the theater, half on the other. If, for whatever reason, I need to get something from the other offices -- like, say, 600 pages of letterhead -- the easiest route in through the theater. Which is fine, because there are no shows going on at the moment.

Instead, there are three large, fit, and extremely attractive guys setting up stage lights. And, um, big ladder. With large, fit, extremely attractive guy on top of ladder. And. Tight jeans. Ass. Um. Yes. *fans self*

And then my coworker's husband brought in their four-month-old baby, and we have three large, fit, extremely attractive guys going all sweet and mushy over this tiny baby, and it's the cutest thing ever.

*begins plotting lots and lots of trips over to the other offices*
