It's been a very long couple of days. I got three hours of sleep last night before having to haul myself out of bed for an eight-hour shift house managing, and then I got distracted by a Borders on my way home for a while. I'm finally now checking my flist for the first time today, and realize, hey! Remix reveal!
So, yes. I am responsible for Staging (Rebel Without a Cause), a remix of
thedeadparrot's most excellent fic Stage Five. I must have spent DAYS reading and rereading her House fics for something I could remix without making an utter ass of myself, and I kept coming back to that one, so. I'm not good at remixing, but I'm a lot happier with this remix than I usually am, so that's good.
Also! I should have flailed about this earlier, but remixes were posted while I was doing Passover, and it just slipped past.
rian219 remixed my fic Logical Deduction as Gravitation (The Logical Conclusion Remix), and it is TWELVE THOUSAND KINDS OF AWESOME. She took my silly crack-addled Sirius!fic and made it aching and funny and brilliant and REMUS, and I am kind of in love. If you read this, rian, THANK YOU.
I can has sleep now?
(Also, BSG? OMGWTFCHIEF & CHIEF/BOOMER. That is all.)

So, yes, Dumbledore gay, old news. But more entertainingly, David Thewlis thought Lupin was the gay one, thanks to Alfonso Cuaron's direction.
So all that Remus/Sirius crazy magic chemistry in PoA? Totally not just in our heads!

i can has insomnia, apparently
Aug. 31st, 2007 03:16 amALSO. I was rereading parts of Deathly Hallows to keep track of all the Remus bits, and it really needs to be mentioned how much I love ( this DH spoiler )
OotP definitely improves upon second viewing, and considering that I liked it a fair bit the first time...yeah. The things that bothered me last time weren't nearly as annoying, if only because I was prepared for them, and the good bits just got better, and I noticed lots of subtle nifty details and suchlike that I missed the first time. Still think PoA will remain my favorite of the movies, but not bad, not bad at all.
Also, memo to self: posting fic on a Saturday afternoon is very, very silly, as no one is on LJ then.

So. Movie seen. It's late, and I have work tomorrow, but what the hell, have a reaction post.
( so many spoilers within, I can't even begin to tell you )

*twitches impatiently*
Jul. 10th, 2007 02:46 amThe boyfriend and I have tickets to the midnight showing of OotP. It's weird, I'm more excited about this movie than about book 7. Possibly because movie 5 promises lots of Sirius and Remus, which book 7 certainly doesn't. (Well, no Sirius, anyway. Ought to be some Remus, although probably nowhere near as much as I'd like.) But also? I don't particularly want the series to end. It's more fun this way, the sense that the possibilities are endless. I don't want to be told what happens, I want to make it up for myself!
I realize that not everyone shares my love of ambiguous or unresolved "endings", and I know I'll still probably read the entirety of book 7 in the space of a day. But yeah. I don't like endings. Especially when I know at least one character I'm fond of is going to kick the bucket, and that's going to piss me off.
I've seen a couple of other people doing this, so...( my Deathly Hallows predictions/speculations; no actual spoilers, obviously, as I haven't read the dratted thing yet )

personal canon
May. 25th, 2007 03:01 pmResponses to the personal canon character meme...
( House M.D.: House, Wilson, Cuddy )
( HP: Remus, Peter )
This is kinda fun. Any more requests?

Y'know, this is why I usually stick to my OTPs. Because when you've already spent 6600 words trying to work things up to the point where two characters (read: Harry and Draco) could conceivably fall in love or at least into bed together and you're not sure how much more there is to go but it's more than a little, then clearly, these two characters were NEVER MEANT TO BE PAIRED.
And this isn't even for a ficathon. This is just an experiment for MYSELF. An experiment which has lasted nearly eight months now and is bloody well going to be finished before book 7 comes out and fucks up my personal interpretation of what-happens-next.
Although I did just write a scene of which I'm rather fond, but still. How can this POSSIBLY be such a popular pairing, when it takes so much build-up to believably transform their relationship into anything even remotely romantic? Bah.

not dead yet
Aug. 22nd, 2006 11:20 pmI'm still alive, I swear. It's just that I'm currently working three jobs, which means working seven days and 60-odd hours a week, and lately I've been valuing sleep over fandom. And what little creativity the whole general overworkedness and exhaustion hasn't drained out of me has been going to the never-to-be-completed fantasy world in my head, instead of, say,
xmmficathon fics (eep).
So, um, here, have a meme. That sharing-first-few-lines-of-WIPs meme that's been doing the rounds.
( the infuriating postwar Harry/Draco of DOOM and perpetual unfinishedness )
( Remus and Peter get sick of being sidekicks and decide to take over the Map, and also that Remus and Sirius should Get It On )
( that fun depressing First War thingy where Sirius and Remus fall apart and then Sirius gets sent to Azkaban and suchlike )
The rest of my WIPs haven't been touched yet in 2006, so they should probably be declared dead by now. Of course, given my dearth of ficcishness of late, lord knows if or when I'll actually manage to pull those three together, either. Maybe when I'm not working three jobs anymore.

public service announcement
Jul. 6th, 2006 06:26 pmOn the off-chance that there are people on my flist who live under a rock, someone's compiling a massive amount of HP fic recs,
hpficmasterlist. So. Rec fics! The original rec post (plus explanation) is here and a second is in progress here. And I've seen several excellent fics that still need a couple of supporting comments to make the masterlist, so while it takes a while to sort through all the comments, it's very worth it. Plus, lots of fics! That you haven't read yet!
A masterlist like this would be fantastic, given the ginormousness of the fandom and the difficulty of finding the good stuff, so if you're into the HP fandom at all, you should check it out.
Right. As you were.

I've got an interesting bunny for a postwar HP fic, centered around Harry, but I've hit a bit of a snag. ( I doubt I really need an HBP spoiler warning, but for all I know some people are avoiding any HP 7 speculation, hence lj cut )
remix authors up!
Apr. 3rd, 2006 05:08 pmSo! Yes. I was responsible for Faintly Falling, a Remus/Sirius what is a remix of
kenazfiction's Neither Sign Nor Symbol. The original is better. Go forth and check it out.
And
penknife wrote a most splendiferous remix of my fic 'Can't Run But', which is probably better than mine, which looks at both Regulus and Draco from Snape's POV and actually tells the story in a linear fashion, making my love of flashbacks look rather silly. Read it! It's here.
In other news, I met up with
siochan on Saturday, who is most lovely, even if she is a Viggorli shipper. :P We watched a truly insane amount of QAF US and wandered about and saw Inside Man. See it, it's a lot of fun, although I was hoping for a bit more of a twist at the end. And at soem point we hung out with
smittenrosebud for a bit as well. I should meet up with my LJ friends more often, they're much more fun than normal people.
Oy. I should be writing my essay. And yet.

seeking recs
Nov. 27th, 2005 01:08 amI seem to have developed a bit of a hankering for some good Ron/Hermione. Yay for canon relationships, or rather very-nearly-canon-why-have-they-not-shagged-yet relationships, and all. But that corner of the fandom scares me. Well, not as much as the Harry/Hermione corner of the fandom scares me, but still. Er. Help?
mandatory GoF post.
Nov. 20th, 2005 01:16 pmSo I went to Cork yesterday, and wasn't there for very long compared to the round-trip NINE HOURS of bus. Oy. But there I met up with
ldmoonflower and her friend and we saw GoF.

*falls out of chair*
Oct. 21st, 2005 10:35 pmOh the brilliance! There's a clip from the GoF movie here and it is so much with the awesomeness and hilarity. You must all click and see.
Er. Unless you're spoiler-free. In which case, well, you rather obviously shouldn't. Because a clip from the movie would probably constitute a big honking spoiler.

Reading the latest installment of
shoebox_project at work is CLEARLY hazardous to my health and job. Hazardous to my job if my supervisor happens to pop by and notice that my face is bright pink with barely-pent-up sniggering and squee, and hazardous to my health because I am in danger of actually going pop and all the giggles and squee will just explode out in a hideous way.
OMG best fic-thing ever.

this never made sense to me
Aug. 3rd, 2005 07:13 pmDo ALL of Voldemort's followers get snazzy Dark Marks, or just his most hardcore minions? I mean, back in the first war, when the members of the original Order of the Phoenix were all scared and dying off and suspecting each other, wouldn't it have been easier for Dumbledore to just make everyone roll up their sleeves and check for spies? Or did Peter not have a Dark Mark?
brief reactions to HBP
Jul. 18th, 2005 11:08 pmFinally got it this morning. Just finished it. Haven't been on LJ since Friday because, well, avoidance of spoilers. ( and here there be spoilers )
Oh, dear. Sims 2 really does eat your brain, doesn't it? *plays instead of doing homework*
Except I did the stupid thing and decided to start each of the Marauders as children with their parents and siblings and such, which means it'll be ages and ages until they're old enough to start shagging each other. *facepalm* MY fandom is pixelated OMG.

PoA images?
Oct. 18th, 2004 10:42 pmSometime over the summer, I somehow found a huge cache of PoA screencaps -- specifically, a bunch of loverly Remus/Sirius-in-Shrieking-Shack pics. I bookmarked the website. Of course, that being my home computer, not my school laptop, I no longer have any clue where that site is. I've spent the past half hour googling for PoA pics, but all I can find are the official stills, and scarcely any pictures of Remus or Sirius anywhere, let alone both together.
Er. Help? Just for icon-making purposes, but still. Remus/Sirius screencaps, anyone?
