First midnight showing of RotK in just over twenty hours. asdhascujkhncuwnecukelhrlkahsd!
I WILL be talking about RotK here, probably sometime on Wednesday. However, I do promise to stick any and all spoilers, no matter how small, behind lj-cut. So those of you who can't see the movie on the 17th, don't worry, you won't be spoiled here.
In other movie news, I finally saw Master and Commander. Okay. I liked it a lot. Very entertaining, and certainly fascinating from a historical perspective. That said, I didn't really connect emotionally with any of the characters. Not sure why. The acting was excellent, but...eh. No connection. Maybe it's just me.
The Boy was the best thing about it, hands down. He almost managed to draw me in. Like, when that other Kid died at the end, I didn't care too much about the Kid himself, I cared because the Boy cared. And, y'know, if he'd lived they could have grown up together and eventually become quite slashy, and it's always sad to kill off half of a potential OTP before he's old enough to have hot gay sex. Um. I mean. Poor little tyke. Yeah.
And I've heard so much about the incredible smallness of Billeh's part that I wasn't disappointed at all -- he was onscreen much more than I expected. One major complaint, though: there were, like, twelve different scenes in which a lot of men were shirtless (too hot, too wet, etc.), and Billeh WAS NOT IN A SINGLE ONE. If I must see lots of dirty wet shirtless seamen, I SHOULD see dirty wet shirtless Billeh with them! Hmph.
Yeah, that's about it. I don't think Russell Crowe should get an Oscar nom for this one. He was good and believable and such, but nothing spectacular. Yup. Aubrey and Manturin are so fucking, but I didn't care enough about either of them to want slash. Ah, well.
