I have conquered the microwave at last, through the cunning strategy of pushing buttons at random until it did what I wanted. It's still rather counterintuitive, especially for someone raised on microwaves that actually worked sensibly, but I have defeated it, and it now must do my bidding. Another day, another important life skill mastered.
