charlie crews says to hang tough
Jan. 11th, 2010 06:30 pmToday was an unexpected!Easy day, apparently. I'm in the middle of rereading Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series (which, I know, seems kind of uncharacteristic for a lover of gay sci-fi, but whatever, I have a massive crush on Clark and Chavez, and Clancy writes political thrillers like nobody's business). And there on p.385 of Without Remorse:
Jack Ryan's dad was Easy! FANDOM COLLISION WHAT. I've decided he was clearly buddies with Babe Heffron.
And then I got a new Netflix disc in the mail, and which episode of Life am I up to? YEAH THAT ONE. Muck! Charlie Crews wants to jump out of an airplane! WHAT.
It's one of those days, clearly.
"I didn't like Europe all that much myself, but I didn't see the nice parts."
"What outfit?"
"Easy Company, Second of the Five-Oh-Sixth."
"Airborne. One-Oh-One, right?"
"All the way, doc," the detective said, confirming that he too had once been young and foolish, and remembering how skinny he'd been, leaping out the cargo doors of C-47s. "I jumped into Normandy and Eindhoven."
"And Bastogne?"
Ryan nodded. "That really wasn't fun, but at least we went in by truck."
