Yeah, it's slow going for a while, thanks to the lovely Regency writing style. I found that the best way to get through it was to read only a few pages at a time -- that way it's charming and enjoyable, but doesn't get boring.
It picks up a lot in the third section -- "The Raven King" -- and it's physically impossible to put down for the last hundred pages. So, yes, it's very worth it in the end.
