About ten minutes ago, my right eye started itching a bit. Which happens sometimes when I'm wearing contacts, although it's annoying as hell, so I took my contacts out and put on my glasses instead and went about my business.

Now the inner corner of my eye has SWOLLEN UP. Like, a lot. Not the whole eyelid, just the innermost bit. And that happened really, really fast.

I would say allergy, but my allergies have never presented like this before. I get itchy, red eyes, but no swelling. And the only things I'm allergic to (that I know of) are cats. There are no cats present. I haven't eaten anything unusual tonight. I have no hay fever-type allergies, for the most part; and anyway, those affect both eyes. And if this is pinkeye, it's presenting weirdly and very, very fast. Um, body, wtf?

I'm just gonna hope if I ignore it, it'll go away. I have rehearsal now, dammit. I hope the swelling doesn't get much worse, because I'd rather not be blind in one eye.

Lessee -- could be some sort of infection, or a blocked tear duct. If it's still swollen when you read this, try soaking it with a hot, wet washcloth for several minutes. That may need to be repeated every few hours for a couple of days, if it's just a blocked duct. If that doesn't help, then you'll probably need to see someone. It doesn't sound like anything too serious, though.

I usually just get red, itchy eyes with allergies, but this year I got lucky, and now they swell up sometimes. Usually, taking an antihistimine like Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton does the job. Damn spring-time!

Maybe you have a sty? I got one, and the doctor gave me these antibiotic eyedrops and it got better.

P.S. OMG DONE with work!

My guess is allergies. I've had it happen twice, both mostly at random and without other symptoms showing. Take antihistamines (sp?) and it should ease up. Mine took a few days to clear, though, so I hope yours is faster. I'm sorry, it really sucks. :-(

My guess was blocked tear duct -- it eventually went away on its own, after a few hours. I only freaked about it because the swelling went up so damn quickly. But yeah, thanks. :)

It wasn't allergies. I still don't know for sure WHAT it was, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't allergies. It was too different from my usual allergic reactions, and my allergen of choice wasn't present, and it quietly went away on its own after a few hours without any sort of treatment. Just weirdness.

Nope. Dunno what it was, but the swelling went down on its own after a few hours. Maybe I had a really well-placed bit of grit in my eye, or something.

P.S. OMG YOU LUCKY BASTARD.

Whatever the hell it was, it went away on its own after a couple of hours. Just plain WEIRD.
