Hi! You don't know me from Adam's housecat :D but one of your stories was recced: And Indeed There Will Be Time. I am in the midst of reading it now. It's *superb* and I hope to finish it today (if the office doesn't call me back in before I can have some me time.
I noted these paragraphs, the last two in particular, and found them chilling in light of the events of CoE:
"It's pretty fucking simple from where I'm sitting," Gwen said sharply. "All we have to do is hide Donna in Cardiff until we sort out the aliens."
"And maybe this will lead the Ygrivians straight to Torchwood instead," Martha retorted. "Until we know what they want, it's too big of a risk."
"Risk to us! We're Torchwood, we can handle ourselves. Donna's a civilian. Isn't she an example of exactly what Torchwood and UNIT exist to protect?"
"We're here to protect all civilians, not just Donna. Look, I knew the woman, she's marvelous, I'd do anything to keep her safe. But you can't put the life of one person over the safety of an entire nation, Gwen, no matter how much you might like her."
*shivers* Torchwood, ulimately, couldn't handle themselves. :( And the "life of one over the safety of all" is especially heart-breaking now.
Also? I agree 100% with what you said in your post. It is the end of Torchwood as we know it. If they bring anything back for a 4th season (and WHY?, I ask you), it will not be Torchwood. :( Everything and everyone was destroyed. Gwen still soldiers on, complete with family, but the Hub is gone, Ianto is dead and Jack is utterly broken. I wonder if I have any tears left to shed for the travesty of the excellently played and written wreck that was Season 3...
Anyway, we now return control of your journal back to you. ;) I just popped in to thank you for the story and to mention the prophetic lines therein. Once I saw this post, I had to chime in with a "Me, too!"
