I just hashed out a revised outline of the
tardis_bigbang post-CoE fic of DOOM. I'd already had a vaguely sketched-out plot outline, and it was looking like it could be divided into four parts of roughly equal lengths. Which, daunting enough, really. But over the past week or so, I've been hammering out the plot needs in much more detail, and starting to properly structure Themes and Emotional Arcs and other such Important Writerly Things. Which called for a new outline, because I was kinda tripping myself up with the old one.
So now I know that I actually need FIVE parts, of roughly equal length. The first part is finished, barring the usual nitpicking and constant revision that I do incessantly (plus, y'know, beta). But, yeah, it is at least a complete draft of a part, which is all it needs to be for the draft deadline in a month. And it currently stands at just shy of 10,000 words.
I'm sorry, I think I need to look at that again. 10,000 words. Which, if my outline is accurate, will only wind up being about 1/5th of the complete fic. So I need to produce roughly 40,000 more words to have a complete draft, which is due in a month.
THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLAN.
