I was hooked on the X-Files from the beginning - I vividly remember watching the pilot episode and thinking, hey, this is different. Which is funny to think about now, considering how many other shows have ripped it off, but at the time it was so new and shiny! And I agree completely about the game changing episodes - that was so much a WHAT THE FUCK DID THAT JUST HAPPEN sequence of events, there was no going back.
