NYC-area geeks!

SO. I don't think I've mentioned it much here, but in the past year I've become very active with a large social group called the Gay Geeks of NY (like, I'm on their board now and it's eating up ALL OF MY FREE TIME but in a good way, that's how active). We host geek-themed events on an absurdly regular basis, and in particular, we hold GEEK TRIVIA once a month. WHICH IS AWESOME FUN. Sci-fi, fantasy, comics, gaming, horror, anime -- all brands of geekdom are well represented. And this month, I'm the one running the damn thing, along with a friend of mine. And I thought it would be even more awesome if a few of my online fandom friends also showed up. Because I wrote more than half of the questions, and we're devoting an entire category to fandom itself.

Gay Geeks of NY GEEK TRIVIA
This Sunday, April 13, from 5:30-8:30pm
@ the LGBT Center (208 W 13th St, Manhattan)

ALL ARE WELCOME, assuming you're in the NYC area and can physically get here. LGBTQ + straight allies (seriously, you don't have to be queer-identified in any way to participate). It's four rounds of geeky trivia of increasing difficulty on a wide range of fandoms, from Captain America to Narnia to Final Fantasy to Star Trek and beyond, and you know I've made sure my favorite fandoms are all represented somehow. For this month, we're randomizing the teams, so everyone's going to be meeting new people. And honestly, while I love this group dearly, it's still very dude-heavy, so I'd love a bit more female representation among the ranks. :) The cost is a grand total of $5 (which just covers our expenses hosting the event, it's not for profit). There are always a stupid amount of unhealthy snacks, and probably everyone present will be geeking out over the Winter Soldier movie between rounds. Come on by! Bring a friend! Bring lots of friends! And we always go out drinking at a nearby bar afterwards.

Hey, I ended up not being able to come, because I had a guest visiting (and I watched Cap 2 last Friday so I could participate in fandom/geekiness, too :(). :( Sorry! I hope to make it to another one later this year.
