Quiet time

New, improved definition of bliss: being alone (well except for the hundred other patrons) in a Barnes & Noble for two and a half hours.
Sitting in a corner with a book full of Dave Barry for an hour and a half, giggling away everything that's wrong in my world.
Allowing myself to go weak-kneed over the Lord of the Rings section.
Thumbing through the volume I know I have at home just because it's a different edition and I want to read the same words in a different typeface.
Flipping through the movie guides to freely ogle the hobbits for as long as like.
Hearing a little girl shriek "Lookee! Lord of the Rings!" and seeing her tug on her mom's hand, wanting to take a closer look.
Finally dragging myself away at 8:30 PM, and indulging in a slice of mushroom pizza at my favorite pizza place, in spite of hearing my doctor today tell me that I'm a whole two friggin' pounds overweight and should watch what I eat. (Mushroom pizza, fucker.)
Sitting alone at the table by the window, chewing pizza and watching the world go by. Just watching.
