Am loving that movie, yes precious. So much fun, in that "Look, it's a 60s romantic comedy the way they SHOULD have been made!" kind of way. Brilliant. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be satirizing the genre or embracing it, but it was damn enjoyable either way. Predictable but with a twist, cheesy but brilliant, just...ah, wonderful. Yes.
And then there's the Ewan McGregor factor. See, he's playing this playboy type who seduces all the girls, the eternal bachelor, yadda yadda yadda. You're supposed to think he's a real sleazebag, a slimy womanizer, etc. And you do -- or would, if you weren't so busy wanting to have sex with him. Like, you look at the broads he seduces, and you think, "Aw, poor girl, she's being so used -- that bitch, I want to be used by him!" Of course, it's a romantic comedy, so by the end Renee Zellweger reforms him and all that, and he gives up his slimy, womanizing ways, and you want to be all "Yay, he's given up his slimy womanizing ways!" but instead you're more like, "Damn, why'd he have to give up his slimy, womanizing ways before I could have my way with him?"
So, yes, down with love! Up with wild hot monkey sex with Ewan McGregor!
And, incidentally, Catcher Block (Ewan) and Peter McManus (that guy from Frasier) are SO fucking. Even Peter's girlfriend says so.
