My apartment hasn't had power for two full days now. Why? Because the power company didn't think anyone lived in our apt and turned off the power. No warning whatsoever. No letter, no call to our landlord, nothing. Never sent us an electric bill, because they just decided that no one lived in the apt. Never mind that my boyfriend and I moved in three weeks ago. Apparently he was supposed to call the company to confirm residency, or something, but he missed that part of the fine print and never did. But still. You'd think they'd SEND A WARNING FIRST.
And now, they're taking their sweet time turning it back on. SOmeone was supposed to come yesterday, but when I got home from my internship at 8pm, nothing. Apparently they couldn't get into the locked basement to turn the power on. Well, the BLOODY WELL GOT IN TO TURN IT OFF, now didn't they? So today, my boyfriend has to hang around the apt and wait for them, to let them into the basement. They'll probably come sometime between 9am and 7pm. Or maybe they won't, they say, in which case they won't make it over until TUESDAY. Which means we'll have gone a WEEK without electricity. No lights, no fridge -- don't even get me started on how much money we'll have to spend on groceries to replace everything that went bad. No cooking gas. Can't charge cell phones.
I'm fucking furious. And because I get home from work long before the boyfriend, I've been spending the past two nights sitting alone in the dark and heat for hours. Which puts me in somewhat less than a good mood. They'd better fucking come today. This is ridiculous.

xmmficathon fic on time. The thing is completely written -- mostly done longhand by flashlight. I probably have enough juice in my laptop battery to type it all up, but no power for the internet modem, so no way to post. I have no access to any other computer except the one at work, and I can't exactly work on fic here. Hopefully, the power will be back today, and then this will be a moot point, but if not...argh. I'm sorry. This is beyond my control.
