brief reactions to HBP

Finally got it this morning. Just finished it. Haven't been on LJ since Friday because, well, avoidance of spoilers.
1. I haven't read anyone else's reactions yet, but...was anyone really surprised that Dumbledore joined the bleedin' choir invisible? True, I expected his demise to come in Book 7, but still. As soon as he showed up with that deformed black claw in this one, I figured his days were numbered. Not that I'm not sad, but I'd definitely prepared myself for it.
2. Fuck you, Rowling, destroying my happy little Sirius/Remus bubble. Well, if it had to happen, at least it was Tonks. She's cool. Besides which, I can certainly come up with excuses, and Tonks wasn't around when MWPP were in school, and maybe they just bonded over Sirius's death. Yeah.
3. Figured Snape for HBP as soon as Harry started doing well in Potions. Neener.
4. I AM PISSED OFF ABOUT SNAPE. MORE PISSED OFF THAN ABOUT DUMBLEDORE DYING. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SNAPE. I DON'T CARE HOW OBNOXIOUS HE IS, HE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A DEATH EATER. Like. I thought Snape was proof that it takes all kinds of people, and stuff like that. That you don't have to LIKE your allies to, well, be allies. Having Snape turn out evil all along just seems like...cheating, somehow.
5. I am kinda glad that Draco isn't totally evil, though. For the same reason I'm pissed that Snape is. I don't like him, but still, he's in way over his head and Dumbledore might have talked him around, given a few more minutes. Poor schmuck. Regulus parallel, anyone?
6. Okay, the Remus/Tonks thing might be getting to me a little.
7. So, Harry/Ginny. Can't say I'm surprised. I'm sure some of you are pissed, though. Sorry.
8. ...yeah, still pissed about Snape...
9. Fuck, man, that was the best book of the series. Harry's matured, the dark stuff is REALLY DARK, and aside from some minor Tolkien ripoffs -- Dead Marshes, anyone? -- I'm quite satisfied. More so than I'd expected.
ETA: Okay, now that I've been skimming through the backlog of HBP reactions...fine, fine, maybe Snape is in fact the most hardcore spy EVER. That theory had better fucking be proven right in Book 7, or I may never forgive Rowling.
