So, I am slightly overweight. Always have been. I'm a size eight when I should be a size four, or sommat. Again, not obese, just slightly overweight. And I've tried diets, but they just leave me hungry and grumpy, so feh to them. I try to avoid eating horribly unhealthily, but that's it. And I should probably exercise more, but I do walk everywhere and constantly (at least a mile a day, most days) and fairly quickly, which is more exercise than most people I know get. So while I am still slightly overweight, at least I'm remaining constant -- I'm not gaining anymore.
Last week, I read somewhere that by drinking, like, a bajillion gallons of water a day, you can at least rid your body of excess water weight. It's not so much losing weight as teaching your body that no, it doesn't need to store a ridiculous amount of water, because you're not dehydrated and more water will come soon. So I was like, eh, sure, why not, it's probably bullshit but it's not like drinking a lot of water is unhealthy, so it can't hurt. So I spent this past week drinking a big glass of water every hour or so, nothing drastic but certainly more liquid than I generally consume in a day.
According to the scale in my parents' bathroom, I've lost four pounds this week. Which, sure, is probably just a technical glitch on the scale's part, but hey, I'll accept that. :)

Date: 2005-09-30 07:22 pm (UTC)I also use water to curb hunger. My biggest downfall is that I'm a snacker. I'll wander into the kitchen and gorge for awhile on crackers, if I'm not careful. But I find that if I drink a big glass of water and have just a few crackers, I'm satisfied and I don't ingest all those extra carbs.

Date: 2005-09-30 08:39 pm (UTC)I doubt that a few extra glasses of water a day will do much harm, so I think I'll be fine. I can't even imagine how much she'd have to drink to overdo it. Bleh.
