oh, why not.

That meme going around -
1. Check out my fics and pick out a line or two from one of my stories. They can't be generic sort of 'Hi!' lines, nor something very vague like "Oh god. Yeah. There. Fuck!"
2. I will respond with which story I think it's from.
3. Points and a drabble to whoever stumps me.
Come on. You know you want to. Distract me from my cranky friendlessness!

Date: 2005-10-10 11:56 am (UTC)Shot in the dark -- 'Not Exactly Detached'? From what I recall, it sounds slightly more like that fic than the others. But I could definitely be wrong here.

Well, but of course. *grin* *tries a wee bit harder*

Date: 2005-10-19 10:56 pm (UTC)If forced, I would guess it's from "Auld Lang Syne", which is ALL snarky dialogue JUST LIKE THAT. But that fic isn't online, and I dunno if you ever bought the Lotripping zine, so that's probably not at all a safe guess. It could easily be from either "Of Age" or "A World Without", because I'm sure I featured snarky!Merry in both, but it's probably a Lotrips fic of some sort.
I give in, even though that's so cheating, because I know you'll just keep going until you really do stump me fairly. Hmph. So, what particular brand of Merry/Pippin were you looking for?

Date: 2005-10-19 11:04 pm (UTC)Actually, I do have the lotripping zine, but I wouldn't have thought to lift from "Auld Lang Syne" -- but all this talk of cheating has me putting out another line instead of just claiming my prize. (It was from "Just a Bit of Fun".) I will keep trying until I stump you fairly. So nyeh.
"We are," Dom says cheerfully. You suppress a sudden, inexplicable urge to strangle him.

Date: 2005-10-19 11:14 pm (UTC)Like this one, in fact, which is a very valid and non-cheating line. I really, really ought to know this, because I almost never use second-person POV. And not recently. It's definitely an older fic. It's probably Dom/Elijah. I cannae remember which of my old Domlijahs were 1st or 2nd person POVs. Guess -- "Not Exactly Detached"? I can't remember what POV I used for that, but it sounds like that Elijah.
Seriously, though, whether I guessed wrong or not, name your Merry/Pippin flavor of choice. It's silly for you to keep dregging up my oldest fics. I don't believe in dragging out the inevitable. ;)

Date: 2005-10-19 11:29 pm (UTC)See, now that I've won without cheating, I will name my Merry/Pippin flavor of choice: happy, please. Because "Of Age" and "A Short Detour" are both wonderful, but they're flavored rather sad. You can pick whether it's pre or post-quest -- I think the happy is possible either place, but it might be a different sort of happy, depending on which you choose.
(If you want, I posted this one too (http://www.livejournal.com/users/danachan/535122.html).)

Date: 2005-10-19 11:19 pm (UTC)Way to go, kaydee, with the realization two minutes after guessing WRONG.
Your ficlet has been fairly earned. OMG that is the second time I guessed wrong with Not Exactly Detached. It seems to be my catch-all for fics what I've forgotten.
