I'm short. Not ridiculously short -- about 5'3"-ish -- but still, most of the people I interact with are taller than I am. In fact, I tend to feel very uncomfortable interacting with people who are shorter than me. Maybe it has to do with looking down rather than up to talk to them; it makes me feel disproportionately large and awkward. I deal with it, of course -- statistically speaking, I'm no midget, and of course a couple of my friends are smaller than I am -- but, yeah. It's weird. And I know my boyfriend, who's 6' tall, tends to feel uncomfortable around people taller than him.

So does anyone else have these weird relative-height issues? Or other silly things like that?

I have issues with shorter people because I feel like some kind of giant and it makes me feel TOTALLY insecure. Yup.

arr. i'm about 5'3, too, and i can hardly deal with talking with people shorter than me. i get all flustered and big and awkward and lost when i need to look down. but i was talking with a friend, who's 6'6, and he was finally like 'doesn't it bother you to have your head cranked up like that?' when we were walking and talking, and nope. it feels natural, because i'm used to it -- even if he is taller than most people i know.

Yes, that's exactly how I feel. Looking down to talk to people is just WEIRD.

To a certain extent, yeah. My daughter's dance teacher can't be much taller than 4'11", and I'm 5'4". Makes me feel like a giant. I find myself planning to wear sneakers rather than anything with heels on days when I'll be seeing her, because I just feel too odd towering over her any more than I already do. :/

Also? And this is majorly dorky -- it was really important to me to find out whether Elijah was taller than me, or not. For some reason, I really, really wanted him to be, because I'd heard from some people that he's only 5'4", too. So, imagine my relief when I stood next to him (both of us wearing Chucks) and he had a good inch or better on me. I am much with the dorkitude. :D *uses appropriate icon*

Heh. Yeah, I need guys I'm interested to be taller than me. Which I feel is quite reasonable, as it's not easy to find a guy shorter than 5'3.

I'm apparently 5'3 (I've been told that's approximately 160 cm) and yes, I look up to most people. On the other hand, I'm the tallest of the women in my family (only by few cm's though) and I also have several aunts and cousins who are shorter than me. It doesn't really bother me, mostly I think "Wow, s/he's really short" when I meet shorter people.

Yeah, I'm several inches taller than my mother, but that weirds me out too. Just about everyone else in my family is taller than me, though.

I get weirded out if I meet girls taller than me. I'm not used to feeling short, and it's very disconcerting. Super-huge guys will do that to me too, but if a guy's under about 6'3" but over 5'10"-11", mostly I'm thinking about how much more attractive their being taller than me has made them. *shallow*

Heh. I can understand that. I would be sad if most of the guys I knew were shorter than me.

Hmm, yes. Now you mention it, I'm fairly small, and I'm much more comfortable looking up at people, or at least not looking down at them. That's just wrong!

I'm 5'11" and get a bit weirded out around girls who are taller than me and guys who are more than 2 or 3 inches shorter. I'm okay with adult women to about 5", but below that, I start feeling like an Amazonian freak or something. :)

At least you have some excuse for feeling Amazonian, seeing as you're actually tall. ;) But I'm short! I'm not supposed to feel ginormous!
