I'm starting to remember one of the reasons I prefer fandoms like Lotrips or HP -- they're HUGE, which means that no matter what your ficcish preferences are, you can satisfy them. I can spend months reading just Dom/Elijah or Remus/Sirius if I want without repeating a fic. But god forbid you should ship anything but Brian/Justin in QAF US, because the fics just aren't there. And when they are, there are only a handful, hard to find, and not very well written. Almost every damn QAF fic on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van -- and there are more than a hundred -- is Brian/Justin. Yes, I realize that this pairing is canon, but you don't see HP writers only sticking to canon pairings, now do you? This fandom needs some writers willing to read between the lines and play around a little. Hmph. I guess I got spoiled by QAF UK, which is an even tinier fandom, but Stuart/Vince is practically canon, so that's where most of the fics go.

In other news, the boyfriend and I have been together for two years as of today. Holy shit.

There's not enough good QAF-fic in general, or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. :( I've got some recs here (http://www.morning-frost.net/recs.php?qaffics), though, if you're interested. There are a few non-Brian/Justin ones in there. A bunch of them would be spoilery for you, though, if you care.

I'll check out your recs, thanks! And I've already deliberately spoiled myself for the rest of the series, so no worries there.

I was on site to read Four Ways House Might Have Met Wilson (my favorite's the wedding) and looked at your tags. I was delighted to see you had the good taste to not be a Brian/Justin shipper! I was so disappointed when they took the show the twinkie route.

Ever considered crossing Brian/Michael with House/Wilson? I've recently downloaded torrents of the UK series, and it's made me want to see Brian/Michael or Stuart/Vince mixed up with House. I see lots of potential for drama when one of the letches goes after Wilson.

Brian/Justin... *shudders* Ugh. Not my thing at all.

I've never been good with crossovers, but I agree it could make an interesting read!

Hello! Okay, I get that this is REALLY late, but I happened upon your post here when I was re-reading a Remus/Sirius of yours that I adore (been out of that loop so long!) and was interested to see your thoughts on QAF US because I love it a lot. And I am very happy to see you seem to be of the Bri/Michael persuasion? I am, anyways. My point here is, I have a few amazing B/M recs if you are still in any way into the fandom and/or would like them. :)

Random and rambly, sorry!

WOW this is random. In a good way. :) I only ever saw the first season of QAF US -- which I did enjoy, but from what I heard about where the series went, I thought that was a good place for me to stop. Mostly, I just love the UK version lots and lots, and I kept wanting the US version to do THAT instead of its own thing. Very biased and unfair judgment, I know, but them's the breaks. However, I would certainly not turn down some good Brian/Michael recs, because I do <3 that pairing muchly, even if I haven't sought it out in years. :D

HEE. Well, I am one for random! My friend and I have been gorging ourselves silly on QAF US since we moved to Vancouver, and I have to admit I am the opposite, in that I never got into QAF UK, but I ♥ the US version. I love so much about it I can't explain. But I understand what you mean; if you already adore one version you're probably not going to appreciate the other. It's natural, I think!

But B/M, woah. I assume you have read spoilers etc - these recs contain plenty, as a heads-up, although I don't think not having seen the rest of the show will affect your reading.

Anyway.

Interval (Or, What Five Years Will Do To Brian Kinney) (http://dontyouwaitup.livejournal.com/492.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] dontyouwaitup. It's Brian-focused with plenty of Michael, although there is Justin, too. But it's a really well-written insight into Brian.

Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll (http://kat1919.livejournal.com/5946.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] kat1919. AU with Brian a rockstar and Mikey along for the ride. All of Kat's fics are worth a look though, in my opinion - this one, she manages to write believable, interesting OCs along with the QAF guys.

...and you mean everything (http://theredwepainted.livejournal.com/1996.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] theredwepainted. Lovely vignettes of the B/M relationship. Again, all of her work is great, and I will here also rec If I'm To Be Your Camera (http://theredwepainted.livejournal.com/11033.html#cutid1) and Come All Ye Lost (http://theredwepainted.livejournal.com/19571.html#cutid1). Oh, and Desideratum (http://theredwepainted.livejournal.com/7511.html#cutid1), which features Michael and Justin's evolving relationship (which is based on Brian, naturally). Really lovely.

Almost done (I bet you're relieved!). I am incredibly frustrated because I can't find the one fic I am obsessive about - I have it saved, but I can't find where I read it online and her LJ is protected. I'll let you know if I do, it's amazing.

So last one is The Man Who Sold The World (http://chase820.livejournal.com/97316.html) by [livejournal.com profile] chase820. It's in chapters, is awesome and if you find yourself thinking it gets a little weird a few parts in, stick with it - it actually works very well indeed.

Okay, uh, I'm done bothering you now, heh. But, y'know, it's nice to be able to spread fic love! :)

I found it!

The Incredibly True Adventures of Stickman and Blob (http://bjfic.net/main/viewstory.php?sid=1216&warning=R) by [livejournal.com profile] mintwitch. I know it's a B/J site, but just ignore that. It's so fabulously good. I love the style and all the details and the portrayal of the relationship.

Okay, done now for sure. I wish I hadn't promised to write my friend B/J for her birthday. *flails*

Spreading the fandom love is NEVER a bother, trust me. :D Thanks so much for the recs!
