I've been really terrible about writing lately. I have a tendency to only write when I've had a burst of inspiration, and the rest of the time I just sort of pick over what I've already written, adding maybe a line or so. All of which means that for the most part, I'm accomplishing fuck all. And it's not like I haven't got any free time these days -- actually, more like I've got too much.

So. Resolution. I will write at least 500 words per day, every day (or, apply to at least one job, cover letter and all). Doesn't matter what -- not counting e-mails and LJ posts, but yeah. But at least 500 words. I really ought to set it higher, because I know from long essay-writing experience that I'm more than capable of producing 3000+ words in one night. But I have a tendency to give up on things if my goals are too high, so better to start small, and increase it as time progresses.

I'm posting this so it's public, so I'll feel more compelled to not give up.

Having just spent a month writing 1500+ words a day, It's easier than you think. Only one tricky thing: you'll be astounded by the number of useful and interesting things you can think of to do whenever you sit down to write.
Ignore them. At least until after you've finished writing.

Yeah, it's mainly the discipline that I'm lacking. If I've got a good jolt of inspiration, I can churn out pages and pages without thinking about anything else, but normally, I'm...more easily distracted.
