ooooh, is it rant day?

Excellent, because today has been the day from hell. Or pretty damn close, anyway. My brilliant, exciting day so far:
-fucked up a Calc quiz, not because I forgot any of the all-important equations, but because I did something very, very stupid involving negative fractional exponents and how to work them out.
-waited half an hour (during lunch, I might add) to tutor one of my twelve-year-olds, who is FAILING French, only to learn that he got the days confused.
-someone fucking vomited in the middle of the Freak Hallway!
-got back the Physics test. I did not fail. I did screw my average all to hell, however.
-fucked up voice lesson, just because. It was one of those days.
-computer crashed, taking with it the half-page that I spent four friggin' hours on AND the picture I used to make it, so now I have to retake the picture and redo the whole thing by MONDAY.
-got AP Hell books confused; took home the heavyass sourcebook and left "Seven Contemporary Short Novels" in my locker. Had to go out at 9:30 PM to buy the novella I need for tonight's assignment.
On the other hand, my extended DVD finally showed up. And a lot of people gacked that last survey, which vaguely frightens me. So, gacking a music survey from...um...everybody?
1. What was the first record you owned?
Never owned an actual vinyl record. First cassette was one of those stupidass singalongs that parents play in cars to make their kids shut up. First CD was probably Les Miz, which I appropriated from my parents.
2. Is there a song that reminds you most of your childhood?
"All My Lovin'" by the Beatles. My mommy used to sing it to me when I was little.
3. If you could spend a night with five musical artists - three for their minds and two for their bodies - who would they be?
Dead ones count? Yes? Good. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr (minds); Usher and Taye Diggs (bodies). Hmmm....
4. If your life was a movie, what song/band would play over the following:
*** Opening Credits
"The Celts" --Enya
*** Love Scene
"Rhiannon" --Fleetwood Mac
*** Driving Scene that Consists Mainly of Flashbacks and Love Lost
"Teotihuacan" --Noel Gallagher (for any other Xphiles out there, this was the song in the credits for the XF movie. Hot stuff.)
*** Closing Credits
"Dante's Prayer" --Loreena McKennitt
*** Any other scenes?
"Melrose" --Tangerine Dream (y'all have to go out and buy the CD "Private Music of Tangerine Dream." Now.) Or anything else from Tangerine Dream, really.
5. If applicable, name a song or concert that moved you to tears.
Anything from the soundtrack to The Piano (music composed by Michael Nyman) leaves me sobbing. It's just so beautiful.
6. What do you listen to when you're happy?
Broadway musicals! Anything!
Sad?
The Piano soundtrack.
Upset?
Rent. Lots of pent-up anger there.
7. Name one musical artist you would like to see banished.
Britney Spears is a good place to start...
8. Name a song you would rather never hear again.
Anything by the aforementioned "artist."
9. Name an album that is perfect all the way through - no filler, no bad stuff.
The "Beatles 1" CD. Not all my favorites are on there, but I love all the songs that are. Also, Loreena McKennitt's "Book of Secrets."
10. Music you like that could be considered a guilty pleasure.
Shania Twain. Shaddup. And sometimes Usher.
11. If your music collection was about to go up in flames, which five CDs would you save?
AUGH! "Book of Secrets" (Loreena McKennitt), "Beatles 1" (Beatles), The Piano soundtrack, "Private Music of Tangerine Dream" (Tangerine Dream), "City of Angels" (Bway musical). I can easily replace most of the others...
12. Is there a song that describes you or a situation you've been in so well that you could have written it?
"Fool on the Hill" --Beatles
13. What is your favorite soundtrack?
The Piano, or maybe Last of the Mohicans. Gorgeous music, guys. Even if you haven't seen the movies.
14. Best Music-Related Movie?
Moulin Rouge. ::grins:: I couldn't resist.
15. What is your favorite all-time video?
Don't really watch music videos.
16. Current favorite radio hit?
HATE the stuff that's usually on the radio.
17. Do you sing or play any musical instruments?
Yes, I sing. In choruses, mainly. Also, private voice lessons for going on three years. Big fun.
