Okay, so I just finished reading the first Kushiel's Legacy trilogy, by Jacqueline Carey, and I am in raptures of love and adoration. Now, I know she's written a second trilogy in that universe -- I think the last book is just coming out this month, actually -- and, y'know, my inclination is to go out and continue merrily along. Which I probably will anyway. But I was wondering: have any of you read it? Does it continue in awesomeness? Because while Imriel is cool and all, I love Phedre and Joscelin and Hyacinthe times a billion, and...I don't know. I guess I just want to make sure it stays good before I go out and buy the rest.

The second trilogy is ok. It's a fun read. It's not the mind blowing awesomeness of the first trilogy.

I was afraid of that. Ah, well, as long as it doesn't derail completely. (Is there more Barquiel L'Envers? Because his snarkiness makes everything better.)

There's some of him. Not a huge amount. The second Imriel book is better than the first one. And it's really fun to see Jocelin from another perspective.

I like the second trilogy (third one coming SOON!!!), but don't absolutely adore it as I do the first one. I don't think it's any less interesting or well-written, just that I love Phedre an indescribable amount, and she's not the narrator of the second trilogy. But it is awesome; there's a lot more Alba and some really interesting stuff in Tiberium, where we didn't spend much time in the first trilogy. Melisande is still scheming and there's still plenty of political manipulation and hot sex. The second trilogy doesn't make me want to grab people by the shoulders and demand, "READ THIS NOW!" the way the first trilogy does, but it's still very good. Hope my long-windedness is helpful.

Now that I'm well into the second trilogy...yeah, I'm glad I'm reading it, anyway, even if it isn't quite the overwhelming awesome of the first.
