"Turn Left" is making me cry, and I'm barely more than halfway through it. Oh, Donna. Oh, Rose. Shit. The rest of this season is NOT going to be happy time for me, is it?
(But hey, ROSE. And Mickey and Ianto and Jack and Sarah Jane, soon!)
...Okay, what with finishing West Wing two weeks ago and Torchwood a bit before that and now nearly at the end of what currently exists of Doctor Who -- christ, I'm going to have to, like, catch up on this season of House or something soon.
I have gotten as far as the opening credits, and this is already my FAVORITEST EPISODE EVER. Who's Who of Who Companions, WHAT. That was a rapid succession of Martha, squee! Torchwood, squee! Ianto's witty repartee, squee! Captain Jack, squee! Sarah Jane, squee! OMFG ROSE MATERIALIZING WITH A BIGASS FUCKING GUN.
I have a feeling I'm going to be updating this post repeatedly over the course of the next hour or so. So I'm six months behind the rest of fandom, what about it?
ETA2: "Time and a place!" And for once, it's JACK saying it. The world really is falling apart, isn't it?
ETA3: NOOO HARRIET JONES,FLYDALE NORTH FORMER PRIME MINISTER! (Heh, Rose getting tetchy about Martha.)
ETA4: ...that is SO not the Rose/Jack reunion I was looking for. (Okay, look, I already was spoiled for the Rose/Doctor reunion, I KNEW that would break my heart, that's fine. But Rose and Jack! First time reunited since "Parting of the Ways"! Come ON.)
You know, someone on my f-list posted, a while back, that the Doctor was originally supposed to have ACTUALLY regenerated at the end of "Stolen Earth." I'm wondering if that might have been...really cool, in a heartbreaking sort of way. ANYWAY. Onwards! Christ, that's one hell of a fucking cliffhanger. Ianto! Gwen, even! (I CARE about GWEN in this episode, what the hell?)
ETA5: WHO THE HELL GAVE JACKIE TYLER A GUN. (Look, it's Mickey! Hi Mickey!)
ETA6: So much squee and hearts and shiny things, I can't even. Um. The Donna!Doctor? Rocks my socks. And earnest Rose/Doctor handholding! And Jack dying as a diversion! Oh my gosh, this show is so good.
ETA7: The Mickey/Jack reunion, however, was EXACTLY as I'd always dreamed. :D
Okay, seriously, though, Davros wants to...destroy all reality? For...shits and giggles, I guess. I mean, okay, Master wants to control life the universe and everything, insane but I GET it. Gray wants to destroy everything Jack holds dear, I GET IT. But...just pressing a massive "undo" button? Why? What's Davros getting out of this? ...I'm overthinking the whole Evil Mastermind Motivation thing, aren't I.
ETA8: "I have shown you...yourself." OUCH. Well played, Davros. You get points back for that one. Oh, emo!Doctor, it's like having Nine back all over again.
ETA9: ...I had been rooting for Paterson Joseph for Eleven, but I've changed my mind. MAKE IT CATHERINE TATE, OH GOD PLEASE. TimeLordish!Donna is AMAZING.
ETA10: Rose - "So there's three Doctors? Right now?"
Jack - "I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now."
Jack, I could tell you what you were thinking the instant Blue!Doctor rolled out of the TARDIS, and I fondly hope you get your wish granted. With bonus Ianto and Rose. And Martha can come too. Orgy in the TARDIS!
Also, I have kind of been loving Dalek Caan for this whole episode. Seriously. The manic giggling! He's the Master in Dalek form!
ETA11: K-9! Good dog. Love the look on Mickey's face when the bloody tin dog got to save the day. And the Gwen/Gwyneth moment! I already knew that the console was designed for six, and that all the companions would get to help drive, but that was still a great moment, especially when he got to Jackie and was all "um, no, you just...stand over there and don't touch anything." HEART.
ETA12: It's already been the subject of many fics, but seriously, Torchwood, if you don't pick up Martha as your new medic and Mickey as your new techie, we will have WORDS. Please? Pretty please?
ETA13: Oh, Rose. It's not the ending I would have chosen for you, but given the circumstances...maybe it's what you both need. Humanity. And snogging. Really kind of fucked up and heartbreaking at the same time, though. Augh, Whoniverse, you never can give us happy endings, can you? (And this is why I'm working on my own damn Rose/Doctor reunion!fic.)
ETA the last: No amount of spoilers -- and oh, did I know all the spoilers -- could change how fucking heartbreaking the end of that fucking episode was. At least Rose got a consolation prize. Fuck, Donna, you glorious madwoman, I am so, so sorry.
Emo!Ten is emo. Love you to bits, man, really, but...actually, yeah. I think I'm ready for Eleven now. Well, first I have to actually watch the Christmas episode, and the miniseries that will be series 5. And Tennant is fucking AMAZING. But in terms of the story arc -- it's time for a new Doctor. God, that was a good run.
Bring it on!
