I kind of lost my mind there a little. I'm pretty sure I spent the last however-many-minutes of the episode sobbing "no no no no no" and not really hearing a damn line of dialogue. It wasn't pretty.
You know what? That was a really good episode, and really, really well handled. And now I'm broken.
That's what I keep saying to myself too. It was a GREAT episode, some really good TV there ... but I'm broken. I need to see what happens next, but don't know if I can.
At least, I was (somewhat) prepared for it. I saw all the signs. Those promo pictures came out and the two where Ianto is hugging Jack pretty much made me go "oh fuck." Because I knew then... it was going to get ugly.
Oh, I predicted it. Many times. The only thing that caught me off guard was the timing -- I was so sure it would happen in the final episode, not this one. I thought if it happened in day four, then it would have to be a fakeout.
Now I suppose I know better. Not that it couldn't be, but...no. It's not. This is how Ianto's story ends.
I really hope not. This is my wish: RTD goes to ComicCon and gets a shock about how the fans are reacting to this. Then maybe something will happen in Series 4.
It happening in 4 was a worse placing I was thinking. Because then, it would set up Jack on a "nothing left to lose and I can't die" rampage. Ianto's death would fuel him to fix his mistakes.
Stupid character journeys. I was holding up until Jack started crying. I guess the ploy worked though because I have a seething hatred for 456 like nobody's business!
