well, THAT was quick.

So I woke up this morning after maybe 4.5 hours of sleep, couldn't fall back asleep, couldn't stop thinking about CoE, and then abruptly jumped out of bed and grabbed my notebook.
I already have a rough plot outline for the fix-it fic -- more importantly, I know what the fix is, and how it's going to play out. Not sure how long the fic will wind up being -- hopefully not BigBang length, but let's face it, canon has not left us an easy hole to dig our way out of, and I vastly prefer a tight, well-paced plot over a lot of handwaving and cheap resolution. I will drag a happy ending out of this, dammit, but I will bloody well earn it.
That makes me feel absurdly better. I'm definitely going to go ahead with the Torchwood Eucatastrophe Project, though I won't get it officially up and running until after CoE has finished airing in the US/Canada at the end of this month. Probably the placeholder LJ comm will be created very soon, though. As of yesterday, I am officially unemployed, so god knows I've got the time for this right now.
Proactive fanworks for the win!

Date: 2009-07-11 03:23 pm (UTC)I don't think there's much chance that we'd both stumble upon exactly the same device to fix it, but even if we did, we'll still be telling very different stories. So I'm not at all worried. :)

Date: 2009-07-11 04:24 pm (UTC)I'm a little strange, I guess, in that I wouldn't mind reading a good fix it fic, but I don't like the idea myself of writing a fic that alters a storyline. I'd have to just pretend CoE didn't happen. I've already mentioned to you the story I want to write...I've even got a few of the plot elements settled. I just can't decide if it's a terrible idea or not.
