Why you really shouldn't try to hold down a day job when your primary career is as a theater techie, reason #23: tech week. Yesterday (Saturday) I was working in the theater from 10am to 1am. Today (Sunday) it was 10am to 1:30am. Tomorrow (Monday) -- a blessedly short day! -- I will be working in the theater from 2pm to...well, depending on when the post-run production meeting ends, anywhere from 11:30pm to 2am. Chances that I will be up at 6:30am (read: four hours from now) to make it to my day job: NOT FUCKING HAPPENING.
Why I'm still holding down a day job when my primary career is as a theater techie, reason #1: I am not getting paid an hourly wage for the theater work. Not even close.
Welcome to kaydee's first production credit at an Equity theater. Feel free to shoot me in the face at any time.
