is this real life?
Jan. 7th, 2010 04:34 pmJust accepted an offer to assistant direct & stage manage a small Fringe-ish show with a guy I took a directing class with last year. He's kind of crazy, but he has really interesting ideas, and it'll be nice to have some creative input on a production. Also, the fact that it's small and storefront kind of appeals to me right now -- dealing with the Big Fancy Theater scene is wearing me down. I'm still on crew for one show and the next one is starting to kick into gear, HARD, and it's just...a lot. Next week will be worse. And then the current show closes and the very next day is the first rehearsal for the next, and it only gets worse once that changeover happens, because then I'm stage managing for a Big Fancy Theater and oh, god, I am not really ready for this. I got my Equity Membership Candidate card in the mail last week. I feel like I'm going corporate or something. How the hell did I end up in stage management?
Anyway. What this means is I won't be able to take on any other big shows until the Fringe is done in July, which means I'll have a lot of down time between mid-March and June. Which, frankly, sounds GLORIOUS, though the lack of a second income for those months will probably be rather tragic. On the other hand, I'll be able to take on extra hours at my day job if they need me, which would be way more cash, anyway. And being the go-to gal for lights at another tiny theater space probably will get me a few little lighting gigs to supplement that.
And I'll be able to sleep. And have a social life. WOW.
So I've just got to survive the next two months. Right. Here we go.
ANYWAY. So lately I've absolutely sucked at responding to comments and, y'know, being a friend, because my life is a vortex of exhaustion and NO FREE TIME EVER. Sorry sorry sorry. >_<
Completely unrelatedly,
