kaydeefalls: walking across the bridge, lincoln memorial at night (back to work)

And the saga of the snowpocalypse continues with yet another blizzard. I am so over this shit. My day job has of course been closed all week, which means I am not getting paid, but on the other hand, means I'm actually getting about enough sleep every night, which makes for a nice change.

But today the winds are gusting up to 40+mph, snow is still falling, I can barely see out my window because of white-out conditions, the theater is closed, and yet my director is still holding rehearsal starting at 3pm. I'm a northern girl who survived Chicago winters and snowstorms in the mountains of upstate New York. I'm scared to walk the half mile to the metro right now. The sidewalks in my neighborhood haven't been even sort of shoveled, so I've had to walk along the main 4-lane road to the metro all this week, and in these conditions, I'm genuinely worried that some driver with zero visibility will run straight into me. And I don't ever, ever worry about stuff like that.

Plus, I've got two actors who have to drive in, and another who has a much longer walk to the nearest metro, and...ARGH.

I understand not wanting to miss any more rehearsal. We open for previews next week. I totally grok that. But this is NOT OKAY.

I'm planning on leaving in an hour and a half. It fucking better have calmed down out there by then.

If you're scared, that's a sign you shouldn't go unless it's really light. And you have somewhere to stay if you get snowed in.

Well, I made it through in one piece, so no harm no foul, I suppose. :/

I am glad you are still in one non-frostbitten piece! Let's continue this trend!

Lemme know when next you want me to feed you and watch Firefly. *pets*

I am non-frostbitten, but today I crunched my hand against the sharp edge of a double door while moving a couch, and it has swelled up really excitingly. *facepalm*

Definitely not this weekend. Probably not next weekend either, depending on how tech goes. I dunno. But sometime....

Oh, BOTHER. That's not really something you needed in your month. *hugs you carefully*

I figured, but I thought I'd check. This coming week is tech week, right?

Tech begins Saturday, yes. We're having our costume parade as I type this.

Damn it, I have to go to HRC tomorrow morning. I was kind of enjoying the sleep this week, even with the complications of snow.

Whoo, costumes! (what? I'm predictable, yes.)

Fuuuun. Well, good luck.

Oh man, I feel you there. I have reached 'totally stir crazy' and yet, you know how much I want to go to the office tomorrow? Not even a BIT. Sigh. *hugs*

I am glad you were able to get sleep this week, though.

Dude, your safety rates higher than the show going on, I think. Especially when you're more likely to know how dangerous the conditions are. Ugh.

She wasn't listening to that argument, unfortunately. Um. No harm, no foul?

Um. Snowmageddon isn't a brief, isolated event. It's going to continue until the Last Snowdgement, when we'll all probably be sent to Snow-Hell for our snwins. Time to snowpent.

Quite possibly.

She says hi, by the way. And the best part of her day yesterday was our drunken rehearsal. (I concur.)

Eeek! Hope you made it there and back again in one piece. Remind the director that losing cast and crew due to snow-related accidents would slow down the schedule more than missing rehearsal.

Survived!

She was not inclined to listen to reason yesterday, alas. :/
