kaydeefalls: toye & lip will fuck your shit up if you don't shut the fuck up and watch the goddamn film (toye & lip's special hell)

How productive am I today? CRAZY PRODUCTIVE. At least fannishly.

So here's the thing. This is not the sort of vid you would ever expect me to make. Completely different style and song than I would ever dream up myself, and that was ridiculously challenging for me. Not in a bad way, mind! It is good to expand one's creative horizons.

So let's call this an interesting experiment. And it's all for [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes, who did dream up this song/fandom pairing and style and focus. Since she's the one who turned me on to the fandom in the first place, I sure did owe her one.

Esther, this one's for you.

Oh this is FABULOUS! I love it! You have a great sense of timing and pacing - I always appreciate when a vidder really pays attention to the rhythm of the piece they're vidding. You kept the pace going great, which is no small feat for such an energetic song. I am also always impressed when a vidder manages to make a vid coherent even in the absence of lyrics, and I thought you did a great job of making it clear who the video was about without awkwardly excluding other footage (which can hamper vids about a certain character or characters - you did a great job keeping the context present and a part of the story as well). I liked the pseudo-chronological structure with the occasional deviations that felt really interesting, even if they flashed by very quickly. And the ending was very striking, with Buck's breakdown and Guarnere and Joe... but then Speirs bursts through the explosion and we're back in high gear.

Great job! I'm going to have to watch a few more times to really appreciate the whole thing. :D

Since I see the file is a .mov format, can I ask what program you used? I'm hoping to get back into vidding, and I'm working on a Mac. I'd also love to start with Band of Brothers!

I use MPEG Streamclip for the clipping, and iMovie 6 for the actual vid-making. Apparently Mac upgraded iMovie into the WORST VIDDING PROGRAM EVER (I have seen it, it is truly tragic), and it can be tricky to track down version 6 if your Mac came with the later version (9, I think). Good luck! BoB is a very viddable fandom -- the cinematography is so gorgeous that it's virtually impossible to make a bad vid. :D

I have iMovie 6 if people need it! I saved my .dmg just in case you ever upgrade, Kaydee-my-dear. :P

Thank you so much! I've never tried to edit a vid with this kind of frenetic pacing before, so I'm particularly glad that aspect worked for you. :)
