This shall be the year of the vid for me, I can already tell.

SO. Every now and then, I make something that is sort of someone else's fault. Sometimes they are well aware of this (tricksterquinn), sometimes it is completely unintentional and they don't realize it at all. This one is partly Quinn's fault, because she came out of Inception basically going OMG ARIADNE SQUEE. But it is also partly newredshoes's fault, though she doesn't know it, because guys, I don't listen to Tori Amos. Nothing wrong with her music at all, it's just not my usual. There is only one Tori Amos song on my iTunes, and it is this one, and I only have it because lo these many years ago, Esther put it on a mix CD for a college show we both worked on.

I'm glad she did.

God, that was just perfect. I'm always after a good Ariadne story in this fandom, and this vid tells an excellent one. The song and the material are a great match -- I get a sense of cerebral, constrained wildness throughout, and so even though I knew exactly how the narrative was going to go, I was pretty frantic to see where you would take us next. I particularly love the section at about one minute in, where you pair the slow-motion explosions with the huge, slow vastness of the beat.

Ooooo love the song choice, so Inception and great for Ariadne. I love the juxtaposing of the totems and with the 'want to learn' line. And, ooohhhh, when the music gets more intense and the amping it up to in the dream job and then aligning Ariadne and Mal in limbo. SO lovely! And the ending with the 'I'm still alive' and all the waking up, perfect!

Wow. This blew me away.

I have no idea if this was your intent, but I thought the way that you shifted the perspectives so that Arthur, Cobb and Mal became the symbols in Ariadne's story (instead of everyone serving as hollow symbols to Cobb's was lovely). I also loved the sense that she was caught between Arthur's sturdiness and safety and the manic danger of Cobb. It was as though they were two different paths dream sharing could take her down- and the path of Cobb leads to becoming Mal,the dark potential inside of Ariadne. (Like the bit where Cobb's dream collapsing and his projections attacking is cut with her waking up to Arthur trying to comfort her).

There was just so much I read into everything and I adored that this was something that could lead to that. If that makes sense...
