happy hurricane day!
Aug. 27th, 2011 02:27 pmOh look, it's raining.
So because I am apparently not a sane person, I'm about to drive over to a friend's housewarming party -- one of two I'm supposed to be attending today. My friends are also not sane people, since both parties are still on. I figure I'm leaving early enough that conditions are still travel-safe (it's currently, y'know, raining), and will make further decisions from there as to whether to move on to the next party or go home or crash the night and wait the rest of the storm out. If I must be trapped by the inevitable hurricane-induced power outage, I'd rather be trapped with friends and booze than alone in my apartment with some candles and NOTHING TO DO, because with power goes internet, and that leaves me very unhappy.
(We're all in DC, which is supposed to get a lot of rain and wind, but not the actual hurricane itself. It's not like I'm heading for the coast.)
Besides, it's practically become a tradition for me to get stranded at other people's houses during storms. I spent both major DC blizzards the other winter accidentally stuck with friends. At least today I am PREPARED and have packed a change of clothes and toothpaste and stuff. And my car is just as likely to have a tree fall on it while parked in my own neighborhood as anywhere else, so this isn't really affecting my risk of property damage.
ONWARDS!
