this is just to say

that I am completely in love with Elementary. Seriously, this is far and away the best show I'm watching right now. The partnership between Sherlock and Joan fills my heart with gladness on a weekly basis. And seriously, the creators knew exactly what they were doing when they genderswapped Watson for Lucy Liu, and it is GLORIOUS how she refuses to take your patriarchal bullshit. Her shutdown of Gregson (and then Sherlock) was made of pure win.
Also, we've only seen Irene Adler for like two seconds so far, and this is already by far the best handling of her character of any recent adaptation. I mean, now I need to see how her storyline plays out (MORE NATALIE DORMER ON MY TV YESSSSSS -- between this and Game of Thrones, I am very content), but who she is as a character and how Sherlock reacts to her already make so much sense. Good god, his total meltdown as he realized whose studio that was...UGH FEELINGS. No, she's still not ACD's Irene, but I have high hopes for this one.
I do love BBC's Sherlock, but man, with every new episode of Elementary I'm reminded more and more of all the little ways the BBC version fails, because Elementary so consistently gets it right. Moffat still writes better mysteries, but Elementary has the character arcs and emotional tones and Lucy fucking Liu, and I gotta say, I'm liking Jonny Lee Miller lots and lots. SO GOOD.
One of these days I may even write the Joan/Bell(/Sherlock) fic that's been lurking around the edges of my brain for a few months now. And yeah, I ship Joan/Sherlock like FedEx, whatever, they just care about each other so much okay.

I know there is or could be fanfic that will successfully sell me Joan/Sherlock, but I love the friendship between them so hard I don't go looking for the romance fic. I don't read any Elementary fic at all.
And JLM is my favorite Sherlock. At least until Sherlock returns to the screen, heh. Oh, what I wouldn't give for NT Live Frankenstein on DVD (no, Bluray). Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch in the same role on the same stage at the same time. I loved it when it screened; I want to own it foreverrrr. In the meantime, I love having both their Sherlock Holmes to enjoy.
