This is the one TTT Oscar nom I'm really rooting for.
andy!
Because. Gollum. Come ON. Andy Serkis made that character work. He breathed life into it and really made us care about this pathetic, morally ambiguous creature. He is NOT an animation. Plus, the nomination of a CGI-ed character -- even if he didn't actually win -- would help revolutionize the Academy. Which seriously needs some revolutionizing. Now to work on the accepting-fantasy-as-a-credible-film-genre thing...

Okay, I'm there with you. Really, I am. It was brilliant what they did. What *he* did.

But, hmm. Bernard Hill still makes me gasp for breath. Still makes me cry. Magnificent. I'm hopehopehoping for him to get a nom. Sorry, Andy... *sighs*

Bernard Hill is wonderful as well. I would pay good money just to hear him recite poetry. And, heck, I'd nominate just about everyone in the cast if I could. (The Oscars need a Best Ensemble category. Like, badly.) But I'm especially rooting for Andy because he managed to put so much talent and acting power into a CGI character.

Hey, maybe both of 'em will be nominated... ::is overly optimistic::

Poetry... Bernard... mmm. Wonder what it would take to get him to do that.

AMEN! Especially with the movies we've had lately. Last year, Gosford Park. Year before that, Traffic...

Hey, maybe both of 'em will be nominated...

Hell, why not? Helen Miren and Maggie Smith were both nominated... and wasn't Emily Watson, as well? hmm.

Amen. Ground-breaking and I felt that he was the most captivating character in the movie.

I'm not counting on a nomination, alas, but he deserves it. Oh, God, yes.

I'm not counting on it, either. Just really, really hoping.

Adam and I are so glad to see that. We've just walked in the door from viewing #4, I mean just, and we were talking about that in the car--that they hoped he'd be put up for nomination. Yes!

Couldn't agree with you more. That would be fantastic!
As much as I like the other actors, Andy just blew me away like nothing I've ever seen. Aah, now I'm getting fangirly *g*

Andy Serkis was nothing short of BRILLIANT as Gollum and I would stand on my head wearing a tutu if it would help him.

Okay, well I would do that anyway, but that is beside the point. *winks*

He really, really did an amazing job for me. And another person who stood out was Bernard Hill. I am completely honest when I say that whatever scene he was in, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He just stood out for me and I thought he was incredible.

Thanks for that!!!

*loves Andy Serkis*

I too have one foot in Andy's camp and one in Bernard's. Both wonderful, both deserve it.
