So I got a notice today from tumblr that one of my posts had been flagged for adult content. Mind you, they don't notify you of WHAT post got flagged, so there is no way to figure it out except to literally scroll through hundreds of your own posts until you find it. Fortunately, I found it very quickly, since it was a vid that had just been reblogged (for the first time in years).

A vid of a NICKELODEON CHILDREN'S SHOW got flagged for ADULT CONTENT.

What. The. Everloving. Fuck.

I clicked to appeal it, because, really, what the hell else does one do? It's a children's TV show! THERE IS NO ADULT CONTENT IN THIS SHOW FOR ME TO VID, are you fucking kidding me?

Of course, buried within the explanation of tumblr's community guidelines is a ban on "Copyright or Trademark Infringement", and I'm betting that's really the source of this particular flag. Because fanvids are always, always the first things to get taken down due to copyright laws. (Well, after "child pornography" like HP smut, anyway, which is a whole other level of bullshit.)

So...we'll see how this goes. Fucking tumblr.

They flagged a link I made that linked to a Buzzfeed article about sexy men who were also disabled veterans. I appealed it via the link and it took them four days to say, "Oops, made a mistake."

It also could be song lyrics. US perception of what constituetes adult content has a very low bar compared to EU rating.

The most adult part of this particular song's lyrics was a reference to beer. But whatever set them off, they've un-blocked it now. It's just a ridiculous new policy.
