This fic prompt fought me hard, and took way too long to write for what turned out to be just 4k words, but I managed to finish it and I'll take my victories where I can.

Nicolò shakes him out of a fathoms-deep sleep to announce, incomprehensibly, "Venice! They're in Venice!"

Yusuf very nearly flails off of their bed, reaching for his saif, before his muzzy brain grasps the fact that they are not being attacked by mystery Venetians in the night. In fairness, it would not have been the first time.

"What," he says flatly.
