Rings-Thing. And Brick. And such.

First off (before I forget!), this week's Rings-Thing:
Of the characters who continued from FOTR, who did you think came off the best (as a character, not necessarily as a performance) in TTT? Did you think anyone got really short-changed? Did you favorite character(s) change from FOTR to TTT?
Aragorn really one-upped himself in TTT. He was cool in FotR, sure, but a little on the boring side. No offense to Viggo lovers. I thought he made a passable Aragorn, but wasn't particularly thrilled by him. But TTT!Aragorn kicks much ass. Wow. He has depth! He has something resembling a sense of humor! He is almost sort of kingly! Rock on. I also liked Legolas a lot more in TTT -- look out, I think he's having a facial expression! How profound.
In the short-changed department -- heck, TTT had some kind of grudge against all the hobbits. Less than an hour of screen time for Frodo & Sam, and exactly 23 minutes for Merry & Pippin. Bah phooey. Gotta love that abrupt cut from Helm's Deep (after all looks bleak and whatnot) to Frodo/Sam in Osgiliath. I always have a "Hey, Ringbearer, right, remember him?" moment there. And Merry/Pippin? Don't even get me started.
Favorite chars are still the hobbits, although I'm feeling more Sam!love than I did in FotR. I liked him before, but...well, whatever, he's much cooler now, and that's a good thing. And I definitely like Aragorn a lot in TTT. But you knew that already.
IN OTHER NEWS, I now officially have a play to direct for Brick. Rock on. Somehow, Ryder and I actually managed to agree on something (he's a wonderful person, but our tastes in movies/plays diverge a bit). Then spent the entire lunch period arguing with Nicola and Laura and Ms. Hollander about Brickness. We all chose different plays, but Nicola's and mine are apparently too similar. Causing conflict. Hmph. The one I chose is ten billion times better than the one she chose; she's just good friends with the writer. (The only other play Ryder and I agreed on was that Nicola's choice was crap.) But it all resolved itself, thankfully. So, have play.
filmelder, it's Sam's play from last year, the one that sucked. He rewrote it, and it's actually GOOD this time. Belated realization: this is a musical. Or, at least, has one big and a few small musical numbers. Oh, shit, I have to teach my future cast members songs. Oh, SHIT, I have to come up with CHOREOGRAPHY. Remind me why I do this to myself?
Meh, I'm sure it'll be great. In spite of myself. Here we go!
