I just spent more than an hour doing research online. What's worse, I think I'm actually going to have to go to the library and take out a book or two.

You have to understand, I'm not in school, and when I'm not in school, I don't do research. It's very simple.

So, how do all you lovely people who write historical AUs manage it without going crazy?

I've barely even started the thing, and it's already eating my brain. Heaven help us.

Yup. Just starting to experience this phenomenon. Current ETA for historical AU: 2010. Although this is probably a good thing.
