The new milk that has been sitting unopened in the fridge for at least a week apparently expired yesterday.

But I really, really want milk and cookies right now.

I think this means my inner five-year-old is suicidal.

If I never post again, please call an ambulance or something.

If the date is "sell by" and it has been unopened, it should be okay.

I'll keep a hand on the phone, though. ;)

You're probably right. Especially since it hasn't killed me (yet). But I'm going to be sniffing at it suspiciously until the carton is empty. And then I won't be able to tell when it officially goes bad, because when you've been that suspicious of milk for that long, it always smells off, and then you can't tell the difference when it is off.

Yes, you really needed to know all that. (It's 3 AM. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)

If it helps, according to the Nouriche bottle I examined yesterday, "sell by" means that it's safe to consume up to one week after the sell-by date.

Incidentally, don't try Nouriche--it's sickeningly sweet so after five sips, you start thinking, "Oh my god, make it stop! Why is there so much left?" Yeah. I guess it's better than no breakfast at all, but breakfast is ever so much better than Nouriche.

And hey, one perk of still being at home is that you can find milk and cookies at this hour. Everything's closed around here, and only a pint-bottle of milk fits into my fridge anyway, which means I should do a milk run tomorrow, because I donated most of it to the rich-chocolate-cake birthday party on my floor on Thursday. And hey, I'm kinda hungry, its being 3 in the morning. Could you pass some of those cookies over?

It hasn't killed me yet! I thought you should know.

Marya probably still had the Really Big Cookie Of Doom And Odd Frosting in her fridge, if you'd like some. We've been attempting to kill it all weekend. It just won't die.

Congratulations on the not-being-dead! Let's hope you remain in that condition for a very long time.

How invincible was this cookie? What, was it rock-like, or just the size of a house? Or a small country? Do tell, please; I'm confused.

It was approximately the size of a small Greek city-state. It could've fed a starving child in Somalia for, like, a YEAR. It tasted pretty good, but damn, it was huge.

I hope you're alive and well. It should still be good, but I can never tell. My mother is like a sniffer dog...she always knows when something has gone bad. Me? Not so much.

Good luck with the milk.
