Okay, so who else is watching FlashForward? Because I just mainlined the first four episodes on hulu, and holy SHIT I have found a new addiction.

Have I mentioned that I totally have a narrative kink for predestination and how knowing our own futures would affect our actions and by avoiding things we actually wind up causing them? Because, wow, this show is pushing a few of my major storytelling buttons SO FREAKING HARD.

Also, Jack Davenport and John Cho make everything win. EVERYTHING EVER. I am already mentally writing fic about Demetri and how he's going to break my fucking heart.

AND.

I don't believe in predestination at all in real life, but as a narrative device, it fascinates me when it's done right -- I'm not a fan of "THIS IS YOUR DESTINY" storylines so much, but the issue of discovering your future and then having to choose whether to accept it or fight it...and then, of course, how does the knowing of it affect the outcome, because if you hadn't known it, would you have made the choices along the way that led to it? Ohhhh, yeah.

I also like random coincidences shaping the pattern of things, though. I have many narrative kinks. :D
