Okay, so who else is watching FlashForward? Because I just mainlined the first four episodes on hulu, and holy SHIT I have found a new addiction.

Have I mentioned that I totally have a narrative kink for predestination and how knowing our own futures would affect our actions and by avoiding things we actually wind up causing them? Because, wow, this show is pushing a few of my major storytelling buttons SO FREAKING HARD.

Also, Jack Davenport and John Cho make everything win. EVERYTHING EVER. I am already mentally writing fic about Demetri and how he's going to break my fucking heart.

I saw the first two episodes and some of the third, and missed the fourth. I have trouble deciding how I feel about it. On one hand, it's trying so very hard to be like Lost...did you notice how the opening scene of the first episode is so eerily similar to the opening scene of the first episode of Lost? On the other....it is pretty cool, and I like several of the characters. And, you know. DOMINIC MONAGHAN. I don't know, I don't know. I'm going to try to catch up the episodes I missed and give it more of a chance.

See, I never watched Lost, so while I've heard comparisons being made between the two shows, that really doesn't affect my enjoyment of FlashForward at all. I'm also not sure I'd be quite so hooked if I hadn't watched all the episodes in one sitting - I dunno, but it helped build the suspense and make the connections clearer than waiting between eps.

I think it must help to watch them all in a row, because I did that with the first three and was totally hooked. I haven't seen the fourth, yet, but am already spoiled because of fucking Twitter. Oh, well.

But I like it, so far! I love Jack Davenport and John Cho, especially.

I'd been spoiled by imdb -- when I was pondering whether to try the show or not, I looked it up, and saw Dominic Monaghan listed in the cast, and went OH HELL YES. So. And, yeah, Jack Davenport and John Cho are SO FREAKING AWESOME, it kind of blows my mind. Demetri Noh is going to break my heart, I can already tell.

I don't believe in predestination at all in real life, but as a narrative device, it fascinates me when it's done right -- I'm not a fan of "THIS IS YOUR DESTINY" storylines so much, but the issue of discovering your future and then having to choose whether to accept it or fight it...and then, of course, how does the knowing of it affect the outcome, because if you hadn't known it, would you have made the choices along the way that led to it? Ohhhh, yeah.

I also like random coincidences shaping the pattern of things, though. I have many narrative kinks. :D
