I really like vidding. It makes me feel precise and peaceful, and temporarily blanks out all the RL stuff I don't want to think about. It's a good headspace to be in. Not quite as good as the writing-frantically-to-get-all-the-words-out headspace, but I'm a bit blocked in that area lately, so: vidding instead. I'm currently working on a Doctor Who/Torchwood vid to a song that is so blatantly obvious I'm certain it's been done a hundred times already, but what the hell, I'm enjoying myself anyway. And it distracts me from bemoaning my inability to actually finish any fic these days. I blame the TARDIS BigBang -- it tapped into my love of long, plotty fics a little too effectively, and now all the fics I'm working on are these fucking behemoths that take me months and months to finish. Which are lovely and I'm sure will be totally worth it in the end (at least to me; your mileage may vary), but in the meantime, I just feel like I'm getting absolutely nowhere.

I'm a fanfic writer who never posts any damn fanfic. This is kind of ridiculous. I'm kind of amazed anyone is still following this LJ.

Whee, vidding!

Is your subject line spoken in a George Harrison-in-Yellow Submarine-esque voice? Because that's definitely one reason I'm sticking around. ;)

It wasn't, but it should have been, clearly!

I'm looking forward to this vid! And will continue following your LJ no matter how sparse it gets due to your skillz.

Your fic and vids are both fantastic! I look forward to whatever moves your muse. Your random posts about tv, RL, etc. are usually interesting as well, so your LJ is absolutely worth following. I do feel your pain about the problem of behemoth fics. It can be so frustrating to have all these ideas and they're just too large and complex to bring to completion quickly.

Thank. *sheepish* I swear I don't mean to sound so needy -- I'm mostly just frustrated with my inability to FINISH things lately. Stupid long-ass fics.

Psh, like we're only here for your fic. Don't be SILLY.

(I really am the worst beta ever, so sorry! so so sorry!)

I know. I'm just being whiny for no apparent reason. Argh.

(You are an awesome beta who has a lot of personal shit to deal with right now, and I totally understand. Don't worry about it!)

*pets* Hey, sometimes you just gotta whine. Go for it.

(Thank you. I feel bad. I was being a slackerface BEFORE this latest round of "Not here right now, please leave a message after the WOE". :( )

1) if this is the vid i think it is, i mentioned it to one of my friends and she instantly asked to see it. I had to tell her it wasn't done; she was sad.

2) If it really bothers you, you could always post the fic chapter by chapter or section by section...

3) NaNo! have you ever thought about doing/done it?

1) It's not. I'm temporarily shelving that one until I'm in the right mood for it. Comedic vids are WAY harder than normal vids, I've discovered.

2) OH GOD NO. I have a very strong aversion to posting WIPs, partly because it makes me worry I really won't finish them, but mostly because my long plotty fics tend to discover things as they go along -- and then I need to go back and plant the proper clues or fix the continuity in earlier sections.

3) Often consider it, have never done it -- usually November is an appallingly busy month for me. I suppose I could call this fic my NaNo project, though I've already cheated by starting it well in advance. Some year, I will actually do NaNo. It's really cool. Are you doing it?

1) valid
2) I kind of guessed you'd have that mentality.
3) Yup! This will be my 5th(?) year, my second of "official" NaNo. I'm excited. It's super fun.

I think starting your NaNo project ahead isn't all bad - just only count the new words! ;)
