A meme that actually looks really interesting, and that I need to make sure I check out everyone else's responses to:

Pick a character* I've written and I will give and explain the top five** ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.

* Try to make it someone I've written either often or recently in order for me to answer.
** May not actually be five

I have BUCKETS OF HEADCANON for most of the POV characters I've written. Like, to the point that I feel guilty if the plot of one fic requires me to ignore my headcanon from a previous fic. (AU scenarios aside, of course, but even then, there are crucial elements of Who A Character Is that go for any iteration. Otherwise, I may as well be writing original fiction.)

I did get some Secret Mutant fic written last night! And I reorganized the outline of it a bit, which helps -- I have a bad habit of imposing a structure on fics to help organize my thoughts which then fails to actually best serve the story itself. I need to let go of that a bit.

Also today I sold my car. Which makes me feel a bit like I've lost a friend, weirdly enough. Oh, Martha my dear, you got me to so many rehearsals around DC and then to Colorado and back, you were a good car and I am very sorry to see you go. :( But I really, really don't need a car in NYC, and I can't afford to pay $350/mo on insurance for a vehicle I won't ever drive. Still, I am sad.

Hmmm - not sure if you've been writing jossverse recently, so how about I leave it a bit open: headcanon for any of the ladies of the jossverse. Whoever (whomever?) you want to write about.

Logan (Wolverine) from X-Men

I rarely write Logan, and his POV is REALLY HARD for me. So this will be a quickie:

1. He's done a lot of ugly things for a lot of reasons, and he will never be able to wipe his slate clean. Xavier's the first person who's made him believe he should try.
2. He's instinctively drawn to women who he sees as morally pure, and is torn between his desires to worship them as they are or to drag them down into the mud with him. He IS aware that this isn't a healthy approach to relationships, though.
3. He also like banging hot chicks, let's be real.
4. He operates best as a blunt instrument, but that's because he's actually quite strategically intelligent. He spent years drifting and brawling aimlessly, but once given a purpose, he thinks of himself as a weapon and is very smart about where to aim.
5. He needs to remember who he was before, but doesn't particularly want to.

I agree with almost all of this, except for the relationship canon. I was never into the comics, so I ship Logan/Rogue. Alone, though, I see him as someone attracted to pure women, but who bangs hot chicks, so as to not drag the pure ones down to his level.

His POV is surprisingly easy for me to write since he's sincerely insincere, in that Tony Stark kind of way. It's the angst-boys (Charles and Erik) that give me the most trouble.

Honestly, I rarely give Logan this much thought -- I have no interest in writing him in movieverse!canon, only as a side character in AUs. I do ship Logan/Rogue, if anything.

And, huh, I think of Logan as being one of the primary manpain characters in the movieverse -- it's why I've never been much interested in fic about him. He is refreshingly frank, at least.
