Just rewatched Serenity for the first time. I've watched the series over and over and over again, but never wanted to revisit the movie -- I didn't like it much the first time, and, well, there is that thing where my favorite character is made dead. But I caved and bought the collector's edition DVD, because it was bound to happen sooner or later. So yeah.
I liked it a lot better this time. Of course, the first time, I had just marathoned the entire TV series for the first time, thanks to
siochan, and the movie seemed quite a letdown after that. I still don't think it's as good as the rest of Firefly -- well, it's better than a couple of episodes, like "The Message", but nowhere near as wonderful as, say, "Out of Gas". But that's what happens when you're forced to cram about a full season's worth of plot into a two-hour movie. I dunno, I was a lot more forgiving of its flaws this time, and noticed the good bits more. And, of course, was reduced to a snivelling wreck at the thing with the leaf and the wind -- which, incidentally, they foreshadow the living heck out of, now that I knew to look, holy shit.
Basically, though, the Firefly love is strong in me. Wah.
