on another fandom note...

Ahahaha, I just went back to rewatch the very end of the Dollhouse pilot, and it absolutely 100% totally is Alan Tudyk watching the video of Caroline naked at the end there. You can just barely make out the profile of his face as he tucks her photo into the envelope for Ballard, and that is definitely Tudyk. Glee!
The latest episode was blandly entertaining. I am amused by Victor's crush on Sierra. Interviews with Tahmoh and Eliza indicate that episode six is where the network stops interfering and the Jossness of the show finally emerges, not to mention the overarching mythology, so I'm holding out for the next few weeks, anyway. I really hope this is true.
After all, shows generally take a little time to become good. The first few episodes of Sports Night were GODAWFUL, and look how awesome that series became (and was then abruptly terminated, of course). X-Files season 1 wasn't so hot, either -- a lot of mediocre monster-of-the-weeks interspersed with a few genuinely good episodes. So yeah. Fingers crossed.
Completely unrelatedly, I have fallen hard for the Winters/Nixon. I hear that this pairing is referred to as The Obvious in Band of Brothers fandom, and I am okay with that. Because their love is so obvious. I've been seeking out fic where I can -- through

Date: 2009-03-16 04:07 am (UTC)Whose Faces I Do Not Recall - Father Maloney, the company chaplain (you saw him briefly in "Carentan" and "Bastogne"), and his perspective on the boys of Easy.
The Green Grass Stretches - Totally amazing portrait of Speirs.
Before I Spill the Things I Mean to Hide Away - This is about Tipper, the guy who helps trick Sobel and who gets his face blown up in "Carentan."
And Chaos Is Luck - This. Is freaking. Incredible. It's fifty one-sentence stories. It's incredible.
Also, you might like this. There are more lurking here, but those are the ones that stand out.

Date: 2009-03-16 04:19 am (UTC)Also, did you see the previews for episode 6? Because whatever happens between two characters has me wriggling in anticipation...
Buffy season 1 was miserable, it didn't gel with me until sometime in season 2 -- and even then, it's uneven all the way through. (Oddly enough, my coworker's brother was in the first season of Buffy.) Firefly became amazing with Our Mrs. Reynolds, which was the fifth or sixth episode written. Sports Night I liked in the early episodes, whatever.

I haven't read BoB fic in ages but I have two old links on my rec site (http://acari.de/recs/misc.html). Not your prefered pairing, though.
