Nothing says Monday like starting off with a generically angry caller screaming at me for five minutes straight. Memo to anyone who ever intends to call any organization about any issue: I am absolutely willing to go into this conversation under the assumption that you have a legitimate issue/complaint/need that we can help you address. But ranting at the receptionist for five solid minutes without letting them get a word in edgewise and demanding to know WHAT WILL YOU PEOPLE DO ABOUT THIS but refusing to allow them to transfer you to someone who actually works in a department with any relevancy to your area of complaint? Yeah, not the best way to get your problem addressed. And screaming at the receptionist right off the bat is also not a good way to make me WANT to help you. Just a thought.

And this is why we have caller ID and a harassment line set up on our phone systems.

So, this. I suppose it's yet another vid about Joss Whedon's broken dolls attempting to reclaim their feminist narratives.

Yeah.

Basically, while watching Buffy for the first time ever, I started to notice some...really, really obvious parallels. That everyone else was already well aware of, but hey, I'm new here. And I thought I might want to do a vid about all these "chosen" women, and how deeply fucked up that made them, but how hard they worked to reclaim their own identities and kick ass on their own terms. And I've done a couple of vids to Tom McRae songs, and his music had the right sort of tone for the vid I wanted to do. So I'd just downloaded several of his albums that I'd never previously heard, and I glanced through the song titles, and this one just JUMPED out at me. So I listened to it. And, wow, yes.
